BOEING COMMERCIAL AIRPLANES, Everett, Washington  (Aerospace industry) - since 2005

Structural design engineer

  • 787-8  passenger door cost reduction/performance improvement activity: checked and coordinated re-design tasks performed by supplier.
  • 747-8 and -8F Section 46 fuselage structure: created concept layout for skin lap splices and stringer assemblies, assembly and detail dataset engineering check with final approval authority.

• Accomplishment: successfully implemented the KBE (Knowledge Based Engineering) approach for automatic creation of stringer assembly drawings, achieving 50% cut in drafting time.

  • 747-8F Main Deck Side Cargo Door skin panel assembly: created concept layout and manufacturing detail datasets; performed dataset engineering and drafting check.
  • 737-900ER Automatic Exit Door: performed structure and mechanism detail design, assemblies, manufacturing documents, trade off studies and concept layouts.
  • Improved the analytical skills performing production sustaining: identification of design flaws, evaluated change requests from manufacturing and customers, developing design modifications and repair solutions when required, for 737NG and 777 fleet passenger/cargo doors.

  

ALENIA AERMACCHI, Varese, Italy (Aerospace industry) - 2002-2005

Structural design engineer and liaison engineer

  • Dassault Falcon F7X business jet  Pratt&Whitney Canada PWC307 engine upper and lower fan cowls: performed concept layout,   design development, detail drawings, interface control drawings.
  • Developed vendor part specification documents, compliance test procedures and reports, certification documents for Carbon Fiber Composite/metal fireproof/fire resistant  structure.
  • Interacted with flight test engineering to optimize instruments installation in supporting of flight test bed and flight test campaign.
  • Interfaced with main contractor, suppliers and partners on behalf of the customer during all technical reviews.

  

GECI GMBH, Munich, Germany (Aerospace industry) - 2002

Design team leader

  • Fairchild-Dornier 928 Regional Jet fuselage structure: coordinated the concept layout development effort for sections ATA532-533-534.
  • Acted as design focal with the customer, evaluating the design requirements and coordinating concurrence with from stress analysts.

  

GECI GMBH, Munich, Germany (Aerospace industry) - 2001-2002

Structural design engineer

  • Performed Fairchild-Dornier 728 Regional Jet fuselage structure, section ATA532 and door surround detail design, assemblies, manufacturing documents, repair solutions.
  • Created secondary structure manufacturing and installation drawings.

  

MECAER SRL, Borgomanero, Italy (Aerospace industry) - 2000-2001

Design engineer

  • Created Agusta AB139 medium sized helicopter fixed flight controls chain detail models, drawings and installation assemblies.
  • Re-designed Agusta-Westland EH-101 rear ramp shut-off valve and actuators system achieving 30% in weight saving.
  • Evaluated innovative carbon fiber composite helicopters crashworthy seat system, developing dedicated crash test hardware using “in-house” equipment.

Design engineer

  • Designed the air cooling unit installation for electronic/optical camera compartments, in aircraft ventral pod.
  • Created 3D models, detail, assembly, installation and manufacturing drawings, interface control documents with pod structure.

 

MV AGUSTA, Varese, Italy (Automotive industry) - 1998-1999

Design engineer

  • Created detail drawings, 3D models and assemblies for motorbike engines, frames and fairings.  

  

SICAS Srl, Fizzonasco, Italy (Automotive industry) - 1997-1998

Design engineer

  • Performed concept layout, stress analysis and trade-off studies for hydraulic/electrical mechanisms and frame structures such as   frontal brush, water tank, main tank.
  • Performed production support and developed vendor part requirements.
